Easy Tech Support – Part 2: World Wide Web

Teach Parents TechIn a previous post, I provided videos you could use to help out novice computer users. The videos were made by a few folks at Google and are also available at Teach Parents Tech.

If you have friends or family that know some computer basics, but would need help with the proper use of the internet, then show them the following videos. For example, you’d be surprised how many people don’t know how to create a strong password, or how to shorten a long URL. Also a lot of people don’t know how to upgrade their browsers and are using older obsolete versions, like for instance IE 6. If you’re a web developer then you understand my dismay when I see so many people still using that old prehistoric browser (over 10% according to Microsoft!). In fact nothing works the way it should on IE 6 and it’s a royal pain to make websites work properly on it. So if you see someone still using IE 6 please show them the video titled “How to upgrade your browser”.
